Sandalwood Craft

Rooted deeply in the timeless heritage of Karnataka, the ancient skill of sandalwood carving has unfolded its remarkable marvels across the globe. Revered for its precise craftsmanship and intricate details, this age-old tradition has been creatively re-imagined to seamlessly blend heritage with modern charm.

Embedded in history, the practice of wearing sandalwood is intricately woven into India's cultural fabric, tracing its roots back to the Ramayana. The fragrant wood carries profound spiritual significance, it is held in reverence within Ayurveda and Buddhism. As an aid to meditation, the gentle aroma of sandalwood guides the mind towards serenity, igniting spiritual energy and awareness. It's a wellspring of vitality, sparking enthusiasm.

While the practice of donning sandalwood necklaces and bracelets has whispered across centuries for these rewards, an unexplored avenue awaits. An arena of innovative design, where tradition harmonizes with modernity, remains untapped. Existing options, often confined to beaded strands, fail to resonate with contemporary preferences.
Inspired by sandalwood's adaptable nature, intricate craftsmanship takes center stage in these concepts. The synergy of Shaya aesthetics and the artisan's finesse finds renewed resonance through this collaboration. A journey where tradition breathes anew, where spirituality intertwines gracefully with elegance. A union of elevated value and inherent worth surfaces, as both the material and its transformation carry a revered status.

Contemporary Interpretation of Sandalwood Carving - A Fusion of Elegance and Spirituality

JEWELLERY concepts

Finalist, Caratlane Designathon 2021

At Designathon, the mission was to challenge the way one looks at designing jewellery and think out of the box.

Jhumki earrings have always been a favorite style statement of Indians. These are revered for its timeless design, and are a staple in one's traditional Indian wardrobe. Yet there has been little innovation in Jhumkis both in terms of weight and styling. Keeping the Shaya aesthetic in mind, a range of statement yet lightweight Jhumkis were designed in oxidized silver, giving the wearer a more versatile option and allowing its pairing with contemporary dressing style as well.
